It's white and fluffy and so beautiful...and colder than I remember. I watch out the window to see my children making some of the same childhood memories I had...'enjoying' a Saskatchewan windy winter day...only to burst into the house 10 minutes later crying about how cold their hands were. Laughing (on the inside) I think to myself 'wow I was sure a lot tougher as a kid'.
Fast forward only 24 hours and it's my turn. After spending the morning with a childhood friend...and when I say childhood, I think the last time Lesley and I talked it was 5th grade (Grade 5 for my Canadian readers). We had many memories in the snow so we decided to make more today with her and her lovely daughters! I dressed in my wanna be warm clothes and my trendy half gloves and say to the girls 'how cold can it be, I grew up in this stuff'...come to find out it was COLD...um half gloves just don't cut it and I think 10 minutes before taking a break to warm up was a stretch. I have to admit I love the white backdrop and the serene environment but I don't think I'm as tough as I was as a kid...we used to spend hours playing in the freeeeeeezing cold tundra!
Regardless of the weather re-connecting with Lesley was refreshing. We had coffee, did her makeup, caught up on the past 20 years and it reminded me of the little gifts life gives you. As I continue my journey in photography I am always amazed at these special moments. Lesley gave me a re-gift, and in this case it was OK cause it was the regifting of a friendship I didn't even know I missed! She is full of life, is a mother to 2 beautiful girls and a wife juggling many things...but she's learning to take time to be alone , time to think, and time to savor the moment!
It's been a refreshing couple of days, although I'm fighting a cold, visiting friends and family has been relaxing and rather peaceful! It's reminded me to take time to have God help me through the day. That we have a choice to walk alone or to walk with HIM. That we have a option to include Him in the decision making process of our daily lives or to go it alone. He has gifts for us every day and it's amazing the form they come in!!
