There is something refreshing about toes in the sand and splashing in the ocean. I am a bit of a sun worshipper although growing up in Saskatchewan where 7 months of winter doesn’t always allow you to enjoy the sun how I like! When I moved to Washington state a whole new world opened up…living so close to the Ocean was refreshing…the vastness of the Pacific Ocean & the smell of the salt water in the air…ahhhh sooo lovely!
As I stare out into the Ocean and feel the peace it can bring, I slowly start to feel my heart race with anticipation…anticipation of all the power that lies within it. Of course movies like “The Perfect Storm” and “Life of Pi” don’t help with my fear of being stuck in the middle of a body of water, with no land in sight, no food and on a dingy with sharks surrounding me…not to mention no facebook or iphone (ok slightly addicted to technology). I love the Ocean but I kind of love it most on the beach with the hot sun beating down on me and a bottle of suntan oil (yep I said oil)!
When I was visiting Saskatchewan last week it reminded me that I do love the sun. Shooting in below freezing temperatures challenged me to focus faster, compose more accurately and take a moment to get it right rather than speed shooting. Of course in all of that concentration I took a few photos that were out of focus…one a bit more than the others. As I was going through my photos I saw such beauty in that blurred image. I photo of what could have been but wasn’t…and still beauty in the background.
So why not write a quote that was very thought provoking from the movie ‘Life of Pi’ on it and share it.
In all of this whether it be peace, fear, sun, cold, in focus or out of focus…People and relationships are what matter…and I think this quote helps me reflect a bit more on that.
