Amanda + Mitch:: Swiftwater Cellars, Suncadia

When they approached Suncadia, they were in awe.  The mountainous backdrop filled with cascading tree lines and sunshine…tons of sunshine!  Nearby was a winery, Swiftwater Cellars.  The ceremony site, overlooking the golf course, an outdoor cocktail area and a huge reception room with Amanda’s dream ambient lighting and wine barrels as additional décor. Amanda and Mitch were thrilled!
Having known each other since they were 12 their families are familiar and comfortable with each other.  It was such a peaceful atmosphere and Amanda thought of every detail.
The girls got ready in a suite at Suncadia Lodge only minutes from Swiftwater Cellars.  Wow what a property.  Both the indoor and outdoor areas are so vast it’s hard to take it all in.  Amanda and her mom had flown to New York to Kleinfeld Bridal (yes the ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ store) and Amanda said YES to a one of a kind, GORGEOUS…did I mention GORGEOUS Pnina Tornai gown.  It hung beautifully from the chandelier in the middle of the Suncadia Lodge.  The light sparkled off every gem from it’s jeweled bodice and almost everyone commented as they walked by.   Amanda’s room echoed with laughs as her and her girls continued to beautify.  Her mom helped her get into her dress and her friends took care of the final primping.
Renting an estate home down the street, the guys leisurely dressed and prepped for the day.  Mitch was calm and cool but definitely had some emotion as he read Amanda’s letter to him.  They both exchanged letters and took a moment to take it all in prior to their first look.
Each of the bridal parties took time to pray before the day got under way.  It was touching to see that God is certainly a priority in their lives. On her way to the first look, we stopped to have a first look with her dad.  They have a very special relationship and the look on his face when he saw his princess was pure pride.  Both emotional they hugged and said ‘I Love you’ and she went on her way to meet up with Mitch.

Mitch could hardly wait.  Anxious when she would arrive we had them back to back and each turn around at the same time.  Mitch laughing out of sheer nerves could not believe his eyes.  Stunned by her gown and a limited vocabulary of ‘WOW’!!  Amanda, trying not to have her veil carry her away with the wind, was suddenly calm…happy just to see Mitch and to finally be able to breathe and move throughout the rest of the day together.

We did our best to take in the scenery…utilizing one of the resort golf carts  made it to get to another part of the lodge without Amanda having to walk too far in her stilettos.  The sunlight in the forest was singing to me.  It was sheltered and dripping with beams of sunny goodness.
As time was ticking along we headed to the winery for family photos and the ceremony.  The Spring weather did not disappoint and allowed for an outdoor ceremony.  Their friend and pastor performed the service as they vowed to love each other in the good and bad times.  In the times we want to, and the times we don’t feel like we want to.  It is always a gentle reminder of my own marriage vows of what life together, married, is supposed to be.   Due to the winds that roll through the hills the unity candle was more symbolic rather than ceremonially lit.  The rings were exchanged and they made it official with the kiss!  The moment they had both been waiting for…to be Mr. & Mrs. Van Wegen.

Griffen, the ring bearer, may have been the most excited to announce the couple officially as he proudly carried the 'Just Married' sign.

Cocktail hour commenced and they signed the marriage certificate and ran downstairs to check out the reception décor.  Amanda was in heaven…it was exactly as she had pictured it.  Tons of flowers, sparkle, and glam everywhere.
After dinner there were a few toasts…one standing out most, from her best friend and MOH, Jenna.  She read a poem ‘A Woman of Strength’.  It highlighted how strong she knows Amanda is.  It was touching and summed her and their friendship up perfectly.
Surrounded by so many people that love and support them both, you can see how special they are individually and as a couple.  To see how Amanda’s best friend sees her as a woman of strength, and Amanda’s dad sees Mitch as the best man to care for and love his daughter for the rest of her life.  These two are going to do great things. As they love God,  live life, travel and start a family I know they will make it through!
Dancing started and it was a ‘Partaaaay’…nothing short of a complete celebration of something that was totally meant to be.   Mid-stream Amanda's sorority girls did a special chant for her celebrating this next phase of life.
Amanda & Mitch I wish you all the best.  What an honor to be there to witness two beautiful souls move forward in life together!!  xoxo
