Somar + Steve:: Heart by Heart, Hollywood Schoolhouse

She walked in and sang her 'heart' out and he was smitten.  Steve knew she was perfect...for their band.  Steve, the original bass player for the band 'Heart' was searching for a lead singer for their spin off band 'Heart By Heart'.  Somar blew them all away.

8 years ago on February 21st Steve and Somar were at a party and realized that feelings had definitely evolved.  All he kept thinking was 'How do I get you alone'... Since then they have been together both personally and professionally.
They had been talking about getting married for a couple of years now AND finally made it official on their anniversary date.  It seemed fitting that their wedding decor would have hearts spread around here and there....Somar's ring, the tap handle, guitar picks and some of the desserts.

These two really know how to make music.  They fit together maybe a bit untraditionally but no doubt a perfect fit.
Steve was surprised at their first look.  As he turned around he saw Somar in her beautiful unconventional black lace gown.  Taken back that it wasn't white, she reminded him how much she loved black...Steve laughed as he cried, filled with much emotion and unable to hold back the tears.

We dodged the terrible weather that was forecasted that day and enjoyed the grounds at the Willows Lodge where they got ready.  We were able to make good use of the surroundings for portraits and detail shots including the deep, rich bouquet provided by Contemporary Floral.
The ceremony followed at the Hollywood Schoolhouse just up the street.
Joined by many loved ones, they said their 'I Do's' and made the marriage certificate official, signing it with their own special pen specifically engraved for them.
So many friends and family joined them.  Among the guests were others that were also members of the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame as well as the host of the party that brought them together 8 years ago.
As dinner finished and toasts began, a sweet little girl in a red dress approached the microphone.  Standing less than 4 feet tall, with bright blue eyes and a smile that would make me give her candy at breakfast, Stella, the flowergirl and Somar's niece started to sing.  As the guitarist played Stella's sweet voice effortlessly flowed through the speakers.  She sang to her aunt and new uncle and there wasn't a dry eye in the place.  Making her aunt very proud Somar gave Stella the biggest hug when she finished.  She stole everyone's heart that night.
Stellas' dad had to follow her performance with his speech.  A bit nervous he too had quite the show.  Every line was carefully manicured as he infused lyrics of multiple songs into each sentence.  It was captivating and a wonderful way to congratulate the couple and welcome Steve into the family.
After toasts the guests were able to load up on sugar and get ready for dancing.  The cake table was designed by close friends and had several kinds of homemade treats.  Rochelle and Joline made quite the variety  for everyone to enjoy and indulge.

Although the couple themselves are in a band...they are all about support.  Having a super talented band like SWAY perform only seemed natural.  AND...they were BOMB...let me just say that again BOMB!  Playing a wide variety of genres spread over a few decades the dance floor was never empty and the crowd was dancing the ENTIRE time.
Somar and Steve ...what an honor it was to meet you... to get to watch you perform back in December and witness your own talent and chemistry both on and off stage.  Thank you for having us photograph your awesome both really are rock stars.  Thank you for sharing your day with us.
