Katherine + Nick:: Newcastle Golf & Country Club Wedding

It was a first date over pizza when Nick and Katherine first discovered they had a connection. It didn’t take long until Nick initiated with “I love you” first. Fast forward a couple of years and they were ready to tie the knot. The Golf Club at Newcastle was a grand backdrop for both photos and entertainment. Katherine got ready in the bridal suite with her 6 bridesmaids while Nick and the guys chilled over lunch in the bar. Katherine remained calm but I could tell she was anxious to see Nick. Katherine’s dad, Mike, requested a first look. As Katherine sauntered down the stairs and headed outside her dad was beaming ear to ear and with outstretched arms couldn’t wait to hug his girl.
Nick, patiently waiting for his turn was tapped on the shoulder by his bride to be.  Thrilled to finally be with Katherine he was taken back by her beauty.  Her dress was the perfect fit for her and that veil added a touch of romance.
As we ventured out onto the property for portraits, Seattle’s reputation of cloudy skies did not disappoint.  We roamed around, Katherine making the best use of her flats, and we were able to capture some dramatic city scapes.  Nick and Katherine were such fun and game for anything!  They are a very refreshing couple to be around.
The bridal party joined us and we tried to mix up having a bit of fun without killing the girls in heels as they walked up and down the rolling hills.
The terrace in between the tent and ballroom is the perfect platform for some family photos and a view of Seattle that is breathtaking.  As guests started to arrive they were able to enjoy a Lemonade bar.  It was such a fun idea.  Different flavors of sugars and purees to mix in with their lemonade all stirred with pure sugar cane.  The guests were all talking about it and loving it!
Everyone entered the tent and were seated and the ceremony started.  Katherine could not contain her smile as she approached Nick at the alter.  The sun made an appearance as the couple said their vows.  The couples friend Annie performed the ceremony and I love how she even incorporated a bit about Katherine and Nicks dedication to being Seahawks fans.  They lit a unity candle, exchanged rings and became Mr. & Mrs. Anderson.  Annie left us hanging for a minute then finally gave them permission to seal it with a kiss.
The overcast sky made for a very comfortable outdoor cocktail hour.  The couple slipped away for a moment to just enjoy and breathe.  With Katherine being a new school teacher it seemed only fitting that people would read about the bridal party via an 'Honor Roll' on a chalk board, as well as find their seats for dinner with 'Mrs. Anderson's' seating chart also displayed neatly in chalk. Dinner was served shortly after cocktail hour, it was a beautiful plated 4 course meal with yummy wedding cake for dessert!
Newcastle always has a bag piper on the golf course at sunset.  Their wedding night was no different.  We were unsure if the sun would slip out in between the streams of clouds and YESSSS it did.  We caught it at the perfect time.  Katherine and Nick up on the hill, bag piper beside them, golden sun peeking through the colorful blue and pink sky.  I could not have planned that if I was told to.  AMAZING!
We headed inside for toasts and a quick game prior to some dancing.  Katherine's dad started the toasts with nothing but kind and gracious sentiments of his daughter and new son in law.  Cory, the best man has known Nick since they were babies.  Thanks to their moms they have stayed in touch and been best of friends.  Katherine's matron of honor, Emily has had years of memories with her.  Lots of sweet times as well as their 'rebellious' days where they had a club they named 'BAD'...'BOYS ARE DUMB'.  I love that those kind of memories bond girls forever!
After smashing cake in each others face they added a game into the agenda.  The shoe game.  The DJ makes a statement and if the shoes 'fits' they hold it up to let the crowd know what they really think.  We now know Nick said I love you first, and that Katherine is a better driver than Nick.
The night continued on with the first dances and led into the crowd packing the dance floor.  Nick and Katherine you are absolutely the sweetest couple.  Soft and genuine and joyous to be around.  Thank you for having us photograph your wedding!
