Katelyn + Spenser:: Red Barn Studios Rustic Wedding

As she sauntered down the hallway to class she glanced over and staring at Katelyn was this fine young gentleman…well not sure it happened quite that way but it was during Katelyn & Spenser’s college days in Virginia that they first met.  They started a friendship and decided to try working out together.  It was during these workouts Katelyn took real notice of Spenser!  One day as they were out for a walk Spenser had the epiphany that Katelyn was definitely girlfriend material (I am sure he decided before then) however it was during this walk that he officially asked her and they became an item!   As they were taking photos, Katelyn, being the shy one (completely kidding she may be coy at times but not shy) she leaned over and stole a kiss!
Dating life continued and in the middle of 2013 they moved to Georgia.  They are both Officers in the military so moving is a reality for them and they seem to embrace it willingly.
At the end of 2013 Spenser moved to Washington.  It was Christmas time and Katelyn had an idea he may propose.  Unsure how, she was patiently waiting.  Katelyn and Spenser have a Christmas routine, a Christmas ornament competition…who can give the “best” ornament.   Katelyn found an ornament and was sure she was going to win.  Christmas was approaching and Spenser decided it was time to surprise Katelyn.  He hung the ornament on the tree and told her she could look for it.  As Katelyn approached the tree she searched around and couldn’t find it.   It didn’t take long till she noticed a simple white bell.  Inside she was thinking ‘this is the worst ornament ever, it’s so plain, I am sooo winning this year’.  As she looked a little closer it had a note on it ‘I love you more’ and something was shimmering.  On top of the plain white bell ornament was a ring.  As she turned around Spenser was on one knee asking her hand in marriage.  She stopped to think about her answer (for about a half a second) and immediately said YES and kissed him.  It was then she realized she was ok letting him win the ornament competition.
Fast forward to July 2015…after a year of planning and anticipation Katelyn & Spenser tied the knot at Red Barn Studios in Chehalis.  It was an amazing and vast location.  So many areas to photograph in and around and a willing bride and groom to walk the grounds!  They chose to see each other for the first time at the ceremony and they couldn’t be happier.   With a short and sweet ceremony they were soon enjoying appetizers and more photos ;)

The bridal party was such a fun group and they were very accommodating in the heat!
Katelyn had decided to have a Bridal shoot when she had her hair and makeup trial a few days prior so I had the privilege of meeting her bridesmaids and seeing Katelyn in her dress early.  She is stunning, did I mention STUNNING, and that dress fit her to a T!  It was fun to have a mix of both urban and country photos and see how much fun these girls have together!
The reception started with a few toasts from siblings and the best man.  Katelyn’s sister Heather expressed how she admires Katelyn and is so proud of her. Despite their age gap they have a very sweet bond!  Katelyn & Spenser were welcomed into each other’s families with open arms and are appreciative of the support.

Next was the cake cutting, smashing and eating…along with a milk and cookie bar.  Seriously I could have sat near that table all night.  With 4 different kinds of cookies it was Katelyn’s surprise for Spenser and it was enjoyed by all!  Although warm everyone enjoyed the dance floor.  DJ, Michael Ewing played a nice variety for the crowd and included in the dance was an anniversary dance.  Rather than tossing the bouquet they gave the bouquet to the couple that had been married the longest…34 years.
We were able to catch the golden sunset and then Katelyn and Spenser left to an array of balloons.  All different sizes and colors and it was a beautiful send off.  As they headed for the airport immediately after the wedding I know they are now sipping Margaritas in Mexico enjoying some much needed downtime! Congratulations you two…much love to you!
