Erin + Kevin:: A Colorful City Wedding at AXIS, Pioneer Square

She winked at him and he decided to email back.  That’s how it goes on Match.com.  From then on Kevin was enamored by Erin.   Her whit, her  charm, her confidence to initiate caught his attention. Interestingly enough Erin and I have a few mutual friends/ clients in common and little did Kevin know that she had been stalking me, I mean 'planning' on having me photograph their wedding before they even met.  It was at our meeting that I watched Kevin.  As Erin and I gabbed about her dreams for their big day, every so often Kevin would put his arm around her and simply say ‘whatever you want beautiful’.  It was incredibly sincere and very sweet!  Erin is a planner, very organized and detailed.  Let’s just say Kevin appreciates Erin’s organizational skills as it may not be his strong suit.
They decided on the venue AXIS at Pioneer Square.  I love that area even in the midst of a HOT, did I mention it was HOT, June day.  Before migrating to Pioneer Square they proceeded to get ready at the Westin.   They both certainly enjoyed some beverages and downtime with their wedding party.  Sometimes my clients have gifts for each other on the wedding day and Erin’s did not fall short.  She gifted Kevin with a book ‘Reasons I want to marry you’…the author…herself.  Hand written with much love it was quite an emotional moment in the grooms suite!  So much so that Kevin didn’t see the cuff links she had included in the bag!  Kevin gifted Erin a new pair of diamond earrings!  Somehow Kevin was more surprised than Erin, not sure much gets by Erin these days!

As they finished up at the Westin we were headed to AXIS…I have to say Seattle never ceases to amaze me with traffic at any and all times of the day!  As Kevin was waiting on Erin to arrive for the first look the guys had a chance for their own photo ops. The ladies arrived and although we hadn’t planned on a first look with Erin’s dad, he rounded the corner just in time for an impromptu moment with his daughter!  Both in tears it was becoming very real!
As Erin’s dad walked to the venue Kevin waited for Erin.  Erin approached him overwhelmed with emotion.  Kevin turned and as he saw her tears began to flow.  So in love and so ready to become Mr. & Mrs. Smith.  They took a moment to just ‘be’ and then we headed to the square where there was now a nice shaded area.   Erin was radiant and so willing to do whatever we needed her to do for photos.  I feel so blessed to have brides that trust me and know how to roll with the day!  It was amazing how empty the area was for that time of day so we tried to use what we could with the time allotted!
The bridal party and family started to gather and then everyone headed in for the ceremony.  Kevin held back his tears as Erin joined him at the altar.  Their ceremony was short and sweet and performed by a couple of friends.  As they pledged their love they were both beaming.  They had planned for so long to finally have their day be here!  Now…it was time to relax and enjoy the party.
Erin surprised Kevin with a candy bar, and although it’s tough to have a wedding not be 100% perfect and a few elements may have been forgotten, it was a sweet surprise and I think everyone enjoyed it.  I know I seemed to graze by that table a few more times than necessary that night  (glitter tongs or not) ;)
We snuck out for a few more photos including sunset down at the pier.  I was fortunate enough to have my husband second shoot with me and a couple of friends who live in Seattle assist in driving us to the pier.  Can’t beat a  personal driver in the city! (Thanks Nancee & Pablo)  Together we collaborated to get some amazing photos of Kevin & Erin.  One block away is the E. Smith Mercantile store so of course we had to utilize it as they are officially Mr.  & Mrs. Smith.
The night continued with toasts and much dancing to a fabulous DJ mix I must say.  It was warm but no one seemed to care especially with access to the back alley and wait for it…a hot dog cart…I mean YUM…how do you go wrong with that.
Erin & Kevin you are amazing, lovely, and genuine.  You thought of everything and I hope your day was everything you wanted it to be.  Enjoy Mexico and get some R&R!
