The halls of high school were lined with students but all of that didn’t seem to matter as Andy & Amber only had eyes for each other. They were friends AND more than that…they were high school sweethearts. After high school ended they took a break, enjoyed college and later found themselves drawn back together. Now in their mid 20’s they knew they wanted to be together…forever!
As Amber’s childhood friend Amy toasted the couple, she enlightened us all of their gentle love for each other. It was rather emotional as Amy holds Amber in very high regard and has nothing but respect for Andy & Amber’s relationship. Both Amy and the best man Tom said almost the same thing. They are absolutely perfect for each other. They love with much grace, admiration and kindness. It has been a beautiful thing to watch and they couldn’t be happier for them!
During family photos I was able to see such tenderness from their parents. Amber’s dad, gently kissing her on the forehead and her mom, hugging her with such adoration and love. Andy’s dad proudly shaking his hand and his mom looking up to him with a huge smile! We made sure to include the grandparents in some special photos as they have lost a couple near and dear to them recently. They had a tribute table setup to honor them. I loved how both families although small are very supportive and close.
The wedding was held at Maplehurst Farms in Mount Vernon. A location that has everything you need right there. A backyard wedding area, a field, a barn for the reception, a truck and corn…I mean who doesn’t need a cornfield for photos. Not to mention a plethora of other areas around the farm that were a dream to photograph!
The sun had dissipated but the sky was still blue with a few scattered clouds. The wind calmed down just in time for the ceremony and it was a lovely atmosphere as Andy & Amber said their ‘I Do’s’. With nerves finally at bay they exchanged rings, kissed and celebrated as they exited down the aisle grinning ear to ear.
I have to say I don’t see many traditional ‘receiving lines’ any more. It certainly was something in Canada that happened after every wedding. It was nice to see them take the time to greet each guest prior to the reception. During the reception they made their rounds to each table again with big smiles and huge hearts. You can tell they are cherished by many.
As the evening progressed the guests took in yard games and spread out both on the dance floor and around the outside areas. The clouds and wind had picked up yet we got a glimpse of what would have been a sunset. Some golden bokeh filled my lens as I snapped a quick photo of the couple. Immediately after turning around we noticed a rainbow. I mean who gets a rainbow at their wedding!? We did our best to capture the magic and then they were back to enjoying their evening. Laughing, dancing and showing off their moves like ‘Jaeger’ (I couldn’t resist…it’s all in the name)!
Andy & Amber you are genuine and absolutely lovely. Not only are you beautiful to photograph, your gentle spirits are contagious to be around and I am so honored to have been chosen to photograph your wedding. Thank you for making us feel so welcome. Happy you are now officially Mr. & Mrs. Jaeger…
